10 ECB Digital Campaign
up for Sports Industry Award
The
Great Exhibition campaign for the England and
Wales Cricket Board has been shortlisted for “Best
Use of Digital Communications” at the prestigious
Sport Industry Awards, thanks to a highly creative
and successful online and social media campaign
that combined fan-generated contact, celebrity
clips, classic Ashes clips and exclusive competitions.
An integrated campaign was developed, integrating
YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and various
online media to reinforce the message that TwelfthMan,
the ECB’s England supporters club, helps
fans get closer to the England team. Activity
included inviting England supporters to go online
and express their support for the team, with the
best messages being printed and put on display
in the England changing room before each Ashes
test. We also challenged fans to upload footage
of themselves singing England’s unofficial
cricket anthem, with the best clips to be combined
into a full version of the hymn and shown at each
test ground.
Twitter was a key communication channel, with
celebrities including Lily Allen, Stephen Fry
and David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd getting involved
and Tweeting their support for the campaign.

Threepipe to Relaunch
The Florence Nightingale Museum in her Centenary
Year
Threepipe has been brought into help relaunch
the Florence Nightingale Museum on May 12, the
birth date of the Lady of the Lamp. Located on
London’s South Bank, the transformed Museum
marks the centenary of Florence’s death,
telling the real story of the woman behind the
legend as well as how modern nursing began.
Situated in the grounds of St Thomas’ Hospital
on the site where Florence established her very
first Nightingale Training School for Nurses,
the Museum tells her story via three pavilions,
focusing on her Victorian childhood, the Crimean
War and her later years as an ardent campaigner
for health reform. The Museum also celebrates
the profession of nursing and explores Florence’s
legacy to today’s nursing practice.
The Museum features an unparalleled collection
of Nightingalia, with highlights including the
writing slate Florence used as a child; the medicine
chest she took to the Crimean war; a rare Register
of Nurses which lists the women who served under
her in the military hospitals in Turkey and the
Crimean; and her pet little Owl Athena who travelled
everywhere in her pocket.
Jim Hawker, Co Founder, Threepipe: “ This
is a special year for Florence and we are really
excited about being part of it all. There are
some exciting new exhibits to reveal and new stories
to tell about one of the world’s most admired
women.”
